Dr. Kyle A. Eaton

Originally from rural Ohio, I grew up spending vacations with my family along the North Carolina coast. In the fall of 1997, I began attending Miami University (OH) for undergraduate study. While at Miami, I received the Linda Singer scholarship in philosophy, a Howard Hughes Medical Research Internship, and became elected to the national honor society of philosophy, Phi Beta Kappa. My academic research interests included neuro-ophthalmic performance and integration. Most of my undergraduate summers were spent working on the North Carolina coast. I graduated with honors in the spring of 2002 with degrees in biology, philosophy, and neuroscience.

In the fall of 2002, I began attending the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry. While at Berkeley, I received two National Eye Institute Research Fellowships, a nomination for the Greenwood Award in patient care, and a Dean-appointed chair to the Harris Award Committee. In 2003, I helped operate a free eye care clinic in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua which delivered medical and optical eye care to more than three thousand patients in less than one week.

At Berkeley, I completed multiple clinical internships in primary eye care, binocular vision, pediatrics, contact lenses, low-vision, and ocular disease. I completed clinical rotations in primary eye care at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC, in primary eye care, ocular disease, and specialty contact lens fitting at Fukai and Associates in Louisville, CO, and in primary eye care and ocular disease at American Lake Veterans Hospital in Tacoma, WA. I completed the inaugural Executive Eye Care Program offered as a joint venture between the Haas School of Business and the School of Optometry at Berkeley. Academic and clinical research interests involved pediatric visual detection and how to better diagnose and treat amblyopia (lazy eye) in children.

Upon graduating with honors and receiving a doctorate from Berkeley in the spring of 2006, I became licensed by The National Board of Examiners in Optometry and by the North Carolina State Board of Optometry. I returned to North Carolina in the summer of 2006 to begin private practice and have been enjoying southern hospitality and grits ever since.

Office Manager Katie

Originally from a farming community in Wisconsin (Halder, WI to be exact - good luck finding it on a map), Katie has enjoyed North Carolina after relocating to the area in 2008. Since moving to North Carolina she has discovered the southern sun is a little hotter than in Wisconsin and she has a knack for catching flounder and red drum. Her years of experience in the eye care industry and insurance expertise will help answer questions you may have about your plan. Katie is currently finishing her degree in health care management.
